RACE THE SUN

The Sunrise to Sunset Elephant Rock is designed to offer recreational and competitive cyclists the opportunity to compete in a fun and rewarding 12 hour endurance race on a moderately technical off-road course. Register as an individual or form a team that loves to shred for a memorable day of racing, camaraderie and laughs.

Taking place again at the freshly cut trails of the Philip S. Miller Park in Castle Rock, this amazing $30M facility offers the perfect endurance mountain bike venue less than a mile from the Colorado Bike Expo and Elephant Rock Cycling Festival.

The playful and flowy 6.5-mile course is cut into to the hills and drainages surrounding the park and offers ample viewing from the staging area for team members and spectators.

POST-RACE BBQ & EXPO

Stick around after your ride for the post-ride celebration, lunch/BBQ, and live music.  Inform your friends and family that the expo is also open during the ride itself, so while you are on the course, they can enjoy the exhibits.

The BBQ is provided to all participants. Your wristband will act as your meal voucher.

Tickets to the post-race lunch will also be available for friends and family.  You may purchase them at the event or when you register online.

IT’S A PICNIC, PARTY AND EXPO ALL IN ONE!

Whether you are riding or just watching the fun, come explore the active expo area where you’ll learn more about the sport of cycling from industry leaders like Primal, Skratch, Shimano, Rudy Project, SOS Socks and Clif Bar to name a few. Also enjoy BMX flatland and aerial stunts, a kid zone, bike rodeo, learn to ride clinics, demos, a fashion show and more. Party at the Rock will also include live entertainment, a beer garden and food trucks! It’s fun for all ages.

Learn to Ride clinics for the youngsters are also free.

Tickets to the lunch are also available for friends and family for $15 each.  These may be purchased online when registering until May 14. Otherwise, friends and family may partake via point of purchase with the vendors themselves.

We ask that you please keep your pets at home as the festival will host a few thousand people and the environment will not be safe for your furry friends.

EROCK IS GREEN

The Elephant Rock and Zero Hero have teamed up again for better recycling and waste management. We will be shooting for 85% “zero waste”, which means 85% of all waste generated MUST stay out of the landfill. The program includes adding a compost and recycling option along with trash, forming a green team and purchasing environmentally friendly products.

Our partner in this effort is ZeroHero out of Fort Collins. ZeroHero is one of the premier “green” event management companies in the country.

DIRECTIONS / PARKING

PARKING IS TRICKY WITH SO MANY OF US CONGREGATING IN A SMALL TOWN. HOWEVER, HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO MAKE YOUR PARKING FAST AND RELATIVELY PAIN-FREE. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME TO TOWN ON SATURDAY FOR THE FIRST DAY OF THE BIKE EXPO OR CARPOOL ON SUNDAY!

From Denver: Exit 181 (Plum Creek Parkway) accesses the largest number of parking spots around the Fair Grounds. Parking attendants and Law Enforcement will be waiting for you at the bottom of this exit to direct you to the closest available parking. Exit #182 (Wilcox St.) is also a great option to find parking downtown. There is a wide variety of hassle-free parking options scattered throughout the town to spread out the steady stream of cars. Please be considerate of the local merchants that are open and only park in designated areas. You may have to ride your bike up to a mile to get to the start/registration area. Please see the map below for directions to the designated areas.

From Colorado Springs: Your best option when coming form the south is to exit northbound I25 on exit #174 (Tomah Road) and continue north on the I25 Frontage road on the east side of the Highway. Just before entering Castle Rock, you will see a large parking area just north of Medved Ford (lot E).

Downtown Castle Rock Parking: Exit #182 is a good option to find parking downtown. PLEASE be considerate of the local merchants that are open and ONLY park in designated areas.
