THE ROUTE

The  Copper Triangle course is a spectacular 79-mile loop that crests three Colorado mountain passes – Fremont Pass (elevation 11,318’), Tennessee Pass (elevation 10,424’) and Vail Pass (elevation 10,666’). The route incorporates three ski areas, is littered with historic mining outposts and includes Camp Hale, the training ground for the famous 10th Mountain Division. The total elevation gain for the course is 6500 ft.

RIDE START TIME

Please plan to start your ride between 6:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. All riders MUST be on the road by 8:00 a.m. We encourage riders to begin early to avoid Colorado’s traditional afternoon mountain thunderstorms and highway traffic.

Colorado State Patrol does not permit anyone to start before these posted times, however, if you find yourself riding before first light you must have both a front and backlight on your bike.

VAIL PASS SAGS

If you are unable to make it over Vail Pass, our sag vehicles can take you to the top of Vail Pass or Copper Mountain. In order to pick up the sag, please stop at the parking lot at the East Vail exit, before the aid station on the base of Vail Pass.

SAG SUPPORT

Sag wagons will be available to assist riders who are experiencing mechanical trouble or those who become too fatigued to finish. Please be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs.

PRIVATE SAGS

For the safety of all riders, private sag vehicles are NOT permitted on the course.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

PARKING

If you plan to park temporarily when picking up your packet on Friday, please use the Chapel Lot off Copper Road.

For those only coming up for the day (which would just be silly), there will be plenty of parking in the ski area parking lots. The “A” lot is the largest parking area and is about 1/2 mile ride to the pavilion and start line.
