Bike Bash at Big Bear WV

Dirt Rag Dirt Fest West Virginia is now called the Bike Bash at Big Bear WV

*2020 Event Update - Event Canceled Due To COVID-19 Restrictions - Rescheduled for July 16th-18th, 2021.

The Bike Bash WV team continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in West Virginia and follow the guidelines from local & state government agencies as well as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our attendees, staff, volunteers, and partners. We are committed to making decisions related to our 2020 event that align with this priority.

At this time, it is clear that we cannot proceed with the robust schedule of events as planned. We had hoped, with time, that we would move toward normalcy giving us the opportunity to still host the Bike Bash WV in July 2020. With only seven weeks before the event date, we’re still in a holding pattern and therefore have to make the difficult decision to walk back our 2020 event.

We are excited to announce that Bike Bash WV 2021 is scheduled to take place over the July 16-18, 2021 weekend at the Big Bear Lake Trail Center in Bruceton Mills, WV. Attendees should expect an amazing trail-network, campfires, group rides, shuttle service, bands, family-friendly activities, and an expo area with bike and product demo opportunities.

All exhibitors who have registered for the 2020 event will be offered refunds or transfers to the 2021 event. We’re going to keep the exhibitor registration open and we hope you’ll consider joining us for 2021. Contact Eric Butler (eric@demodays.com) to reserve your spot.

To our registered attendees: with all of the event cancellations being announced across the United States, we hope that the need for us to make this tough decision does not catch you by surprise. We certainly share in your disappointment. Although we can’t offer the full festival experience in 2020, we still want to see you camping and riding bikes at the Big Bear Lake Trail Center over the July 17-19, 2020 weekend.

Currently registered attendees will be given the following options:

A refund equal to the amount paid toward the 2020 event

A partial refund (minus $25) of the amount paid if you choose to join us for the July 17-19, 2020 socially distant camp and ride weekend without committing to the 2021 event, or

A transfer equal to the amount paid to the 2021 event AND a free entry to our socially distant camp and ride weekend that will be held July 17-19, 2020 (BEST VALUE)

For interested attendees who did not register for Bike Bash WV 2020, we’re going to leave the 2020 registration open with the option to sign up and then we’ll transfer your registration to the 2021 event with a free entry to the socially distant camp and ride weekend included. There will also be the option to just sign up for the socially distant camp and ride weekend.

More information will be forthcoming through our event BikeReg registration page and through our other digital and social media outlets. We do hope that all of you are healthy and staying active during these uncertain times. We are committed to continuing our long history of hosting quality events that showcase the excellent mountain biking in West Virginia and the beauty of the Mountain State. All we need is you!

If you are sleeping on the Airstrip, main camping area, you must purchase onsite camping. This includes; sharing a tent with a friend, sleeping on a camp table, sleeping in a roof-top tent, using a hammock, etc. If your sleeping in someone's RV who has already purchased a pass with onsite camping you are still required to purchase a pass with onsite camping, as you are camping on site.

  • All on-site camping is communal camping, which means you will share a campsite with other campers. Be ready to make some new friends!
  • Group Camping: You will be asked if you want to be assigned to group camping during the online registration process. We cannot guarantee all campers their own group site. Our goal is to have groups seven or larger have their own site, but there are times where we need to combine people and/or groups together. Please make sure your whole group uses the same name so no one gets mixed up or left out of the group. Enter the full group name and not just an acronym. If you do not enter a group name you will be put in individual camping.
  • If your group is less than seven people, you will be slotted to camp in the Individual Camping Area. Don't panic, there is plenty of space!
  • Individual Camping: If you don't have a group, that's okay! List yourself as an Individual on the next page. You will share a campsite with other individual campers.
  • There are no specific site reservations.
  • Once camping sells out, we will open a waitlist. If someone in your group didn't sign up in time, they can join the waitlist. Encourage your group to sign up ASAP!
  • We have a limited amount of campsites for RVs/ Sprinters/ pop-ups/ pull-behind trailers.  THESE ARE ALL PRIMITIVE CAMPSITES WITH NO HOOK-UPS. You can fill up and empty your water with the Big Bear Lake Camplands facility, to the left of the entrance.

Camping offsite:

Arrival: Friday, registration opens at 11:00 a.m., expo opens at 11:00a.m.

Places to book offsite, reservations have to be made separate:

  • Campfires are only allowed in a metal bottom fire bowls or chimineas that you may bring with you. The event is on an airstrip, so we ask that you use caution and maintain a small controlled fire, with emergency water at hand. Do not build rock rings. Weather conditions may cause fire restrictions.

  • Please carry out your weekend trash to the dumpster at the expo entrance/exit garbage drop-off.

Parking & Shuttles:

  • There is free parking at the Big Bear Lake Trail Community Center near the main trail entrance with shuttle access to and from the expo. Do not park at the Country Store!
  • Parking passes can be purchased with your registration. We are asking attendees who are purchasing a parking pass to please consider having one vehicle per three people.
  • A parking pass can be purchased onsite at registration for Day Pass Only but will be limited to available space. If you do not want to purchase a parking pass, you can park for free at the Big Bear Lake Community Center parking area and ride the trails up to the expo or catch the shuttle Friday-Sunday. Anyone who has not purchased a parking pass and is camping on site will be given a temporary parking pass to unload then can head up to the free parking and drop their car at the Community Center lot.
  • Shuttle service will be running Friday-Sunday. There will be two bike shuttles running until dusk, one human shuttle running until 10 pm Friday & Saturday.

  • Kids under the age of 16 are free to attend. Be aware that the onsite camping can stay pretty noisy in the evening. Attendees are also drinking publicly, and mountain bikers do tend to change their clothes publicly. If this sounds like something to avoid, we recommend camping at Beaver Creek Village just down the road.
